Planning for Fest of All 2012: Celebrating the Many Cultures of the Ozarks has begun. The first planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at Tim's Pizza on the Fayetteville Square at 11:30 AM. Fest of All is a free annual festival that encourages the appreciation and recognition of community diversity through entertainment, education, and artistic expression of all cultures. It will be held on Thursday, September 6 from 5-8 PM in conjunction with First Thursday on the Fayetteville Square.

The audience of municipal leaders from across the state were greatly impressed with the extremely large number of hours Fayetteville citizens have donated to their community in 2011.

Form for Registering Microchips Now Available

The Fayetteville City Council recently passed a new ordinance requiring all pets in Fayetteville to be microchipped in an effort to see more pets reunited with their owners. Microchips are available at local veterinarian offices as well as at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. No appointment is needed to get your pet microchipped at the Shelter. The process takes approximately ten minutes and the cost is twenty dollars per pet.

Fayetteville was honored for the third year in a row as a Volunteer Community of the Year. The award is given by The Office of Governor Mike Beebe, the Department of Human Services Division on Volunteerism, and the Arkansas Municipal League. This award will be presented to Fayetteville at the Municipal League Annual Conference in early 2012. Mayor Lioneld Jordan states, "Fayetteville has a strong community spirit and has long been praised for one its greatest strengths, her People. In good times and trying times, Fayetteville residents consider others and have a great solidarity of spirit. We are a giving community, and this award is in honor of the thousands of Fayetteville volunteers who have done so much to help so many."
